Paddy’s Place

Description

The bustling centre of coastal St Agnes and the dramatic clifftops and beaches of the north Cornish coast are both less than a mile away, making this beautifully restored cottage a wonderful spot from which to explore. A footpath leads through meadows and a streamside lane to the village pubs, restaurants, shops and galleries, offering an enticing choice of eating and meeting places.

Paddy’s Place is a newly refurbished terraced cottage, a delightful holiday home with a Shaker-style kitchen, wood-burners in the sitting and dining rooms and a glass-roofed verandah looking out over garden and countryside. Three good-size bedrooms – the single with distant sea views – share the family bathroom which has both a bath and fitted shower.

Beautifully and stylishly presented with local artwork on the walls and Cornish goodies awaiting you on arrival, Paddy’s Place ticks all the right boxes for enjoyable holidays.

With private parking right outside and a handy porch for storing buckets and spades, you’ll feel at home from the minute you arrive at Paddy’s Place.

The front door opens into the whitewashed dining-room where the dining-table sits before a warming wood-burner, perfect for lingering long over cosy holiday meals. An opening through to the small but well-designed kitchen means the chef won’t feel left out when preparing delicious meals with locally-sourced ingredients. A door leads out to the glazed verandah (perfect for drying wetsuits!) and small garden laid to lawn. There is a nearby play park and excellent walks out to the cliffs for spectacular coastal scenery.

The sitting-room has a big corner sofa and comfortable armchairs, with a Smart TV offering catch-up programmes and access to Netflix, and a wood-burner so you can toast your toes after days out walking and exploring. Upstairs, all three bedrooms are light and bright, sharing the contemporary bathroom.

With wonderful walks on the doorstep, a well-behaved dog is welcome, so bring your faithful family friend and set out to explore the stunning coastline and sandy beaches surrounding St Agnes. The renowned surfing beach at Trevaunance Cove is just half an hour’s walk away, with equally popular beaches at Chapel Porth, Porthtowan and Perranporth, all patrolled by lifeguards from Easter to October and all perfect for surfing, swimming, rock-pooling and sandcastle building. There are miles of coastal footpaths across the nearby cliffs, where stunning sunsets turn the sky pink as the sun sinks over the water and stars sparkle in the dark night skies.

St Agnes is a friendly village which welcomes visitors and provides everything you could need including a butcher, bakery, award-winning pizza shop, fish and chip shop, greengrocer, mini-market and numerous cafes, pubs and bistros. There are galleries selling local arts and crafts and a highly respected surf shop where you can book surf lessons, stock up on great beach gear or even order a bespoke surfboard.

The coastline, cliffs and beaches around St Agnes are a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, dotted with the ruins of granite-built engine houses, reminders of the area’s tin-mining past and site of many film shoots (this is the heart of Poldark country and you may even meet Poldark himself if you’re around during filming!).
