Honeysuckle

Description

Unspoilt countryside, buttercup-filled fields and a burbling river – a stay at Honeysuckle truly is get-away-from-it-all glamping. Inside, a log-fired range provides cooking and heating, and there is a double bedroom, a double den bed and a twin bedroom, all with comfy beds and lovely linens. The kitchen-area has everything to hand, and the shower-room boasts a double-size shower as well as a flushing WC and wash-basin too.

This special safari tent is one of three (the other two being Celandine and Campion) that share communal picnic areas along the river’s edge, a trampoline and a fire-pit, but it is set in its own tranquil space on a raised wooden deck with glorious views and its own barbecue and picnic table to the side. In short, prepare to be blown away by Honeysuckle’s space and comfort.

Lanes full of wildflowers in spring and summer bring you to three luxury safari tents in this special part of north Cornwall, at the top of a meadow and with the River Kensey burbling at the bottom (the river is fenced but please do take care with children). A mown path takes you and your wheelbarrow full of luggage from the shared parking-area to Honeysuckle, the first tent, which has seven steps (with a safety gate at the top) leading to the spacious raised deck.

Perfect for families, the tent has three bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge (with small freezer), sink, kettle and plenty of storage, a comfy sofa and a dining-table and chairs. As a touch of luxury, the floor has been insulated beneath for toasty warmth all year round. The Owners live nearby with their free-range chickens (look out for Mauvey; she loves a cuddle), and there is an honesty-shop on site where you can buy all sorts of necessities as well as Cornish treats.

If you tire of star-gazing, bouncing on the trampoline or toasting marshmallows on the fire, you can drive to a nearby beach or take a short walk to New Mills Farm Park, just down the road. There you will find petting animals, ride-on toys, play barns and more, as well as a super cafe specialising in great value local food to eat in or take home and, in season, there is a little steam train that chugs to and from Launceston station.
