Fisherman’s Friends at St Ives September Festival

Cornwall’s Fisherman’s Friends will make a welcome return to the St Ives September Festival when they appear at The Guildhall on Monday, September 10.
Fisherman’s Friends, widely credited with inspiring the current British revival of interest in shanty-style choral singing, last appeared at the St Ives Festival in 2014.
They starting out singing ttaditional sea songs on the Platt in their native Port Isaac to raise money for charity 27 years ago and hit the big-time in 2010 when they were “discovered” by the wider world and signed a major record deal.
Their album Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends went gold as they became the first traditional folk act to reach the top ten in the UK album charts.
