The ultimate resource & travel guide to Cornwall England

£7 Nights from £371

1 North Parade

Description

This is a gorgeous little bolthole, right in the middle of lovely Portscatho on the Roseland peninsula and just yards from Tatam’s beach (and Tatam’s boutique cafe selling delicious coffee, croissants and cakes).

Beautifully decorated and wonderfully comfortable, 1 North Parade will delight all who stay. Local artwork, rugs, cushions and throws all add to the feel good factor and together with the warming wood-burner make the cottage as inviting in cooler months as it is in spring and summer.

There are glorious coastal walks right from the doorstep, with Tatam’s beach a few steps away and the renowned Hidden Hut cafe at Porthcurnick Beach just a seven minute walk along the coast.

The nearby Plume of Feathers serves great locally-sourced food and offers a blazing log fire in chilly months, the perfect way to end the day.

This terraced cottage has a ground floor bedroom with hints of quirky nautical style in the porthole windowed doors and canvas sail used as a room divider. The shower-room has a big walk-in shower, Moroccan tiles and a useful drying/dressing-area. Upstairs, the open plan living-room is light and airy with painted floorboards, a warming wood-burner and an antique pine dining-table and pew. The galley kitchen has Shaker-style units, oak work surfaces and lots of little extras like cookery books for those who like a spot of holiday cooking.

If you’d rather not don a pinny and wield a wooden spoon, there are a multitude of wonderful eating places within a few miles. The wonderful Hidden Hut cafe at Porthcurnick beach has cafe food and regular feast nights; the Rosevine and Driftwood hotels have outstanding restaurants and The Idle Rocks and Hotel Tresanton in nearby St Mawes both offer exceptional food and sublime sea views.

The Harbour Club just across the road offers cheap local ales, film nights, quizzes and a pool table, with fabulous views from its sea-facing terrace; visitors are very welcome (closing time can be a little animated in the height of holiday season but it’s all very friendly).

There are galleries selling original Cornish art, farmers’ markets and renowned Cornish gardens to explore.

The nearby King Harry Ferry crosses the River Fal giving easy access to the pretty Cathedral City of Truro, maritime Falmouth and the dramatic cliffs and sandy surfing beaches of the north coast. Why not lace up your walking boots and head off out to discover everything this beautiful part of Cornwall has to offer.
