Froglands

Description

Lerryn is an idyllic place, providing all the delights of a traditional village with its well-stocked shop, cream teas on the green, friendly pub and an ancient stone bridge crossing the River Fowey. Nestling in a wooded valley, riverside walks reveal herons, swans, kingfishers and egrets.

Froglands is a mile outside the village, a large welcoming family home in a wonderfully peaceful and tranquil location, with eight acres of garden, meadow and woodland to explore. A mowed path leads down to the orchard, where a picnic table is set beside the stream. There are walking routes nearby and local farms sell scrumpy cider. Kayaks and canoes can be launched from the village to follow the river lazily downstream towards Fowey.

A real home-from-home, Froglands has a wood-burner in the sitting-room, a peaceful study, a separate dining-room and a fully equipped kitchen. There are lovely pictures, prints, and patchwork quilts, plus books, games and Superfast broadband to keep everyone happy on-line or off.

A wide terrace, accessed from both sitting and dining rooms, looks out over the garden and has a table and chairs for outdoor meals. There are undulating countryside views and wildlife can often be seen: pheasants, badgers, foxes and even deer may be glimpsed in the neighbouring fields.

Upstairs, the large double bedroom shares the wonderful views and has its own en suite shower-room. The other three bedrooms share the family bathroom and a ground floor cloakroom. Perfect for family gatherings, Froglands is ideally located for exploring near and far.

The picturesque sailing town of Fowey, with its sandy beach at Readymoney Cove, can be reached via the Bodinnick ferry, with the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan beyond. The ancient stannary town of Lostwithiel is a few miles away, a treasure trove of antiques shops and old-fashioned tea-rooms.
