Barney’s Cabin

Description

You will instantly start to unwind the moment you arrive at beautiful Barney’s Cabin, a truly bespoke retreat. Offering the best of both worlds, this idyllic bolthole for two is set off the beaten track, on the edge of a peaceful wooded valley in the grounds of the owners’ home and Newham House Cottage (2879) (all completely detached and not overlooked), but still close to the coast with walks galore.

Step over the threshold and you will be warmly welcomed by the gorgeous master bedroom, with its super-comfy king-size bed, lovely linens, toasty under-floor heating and compact but quirky storage space. The stylish and contemporary en suite shower-room is decorated in soft whites and greys and, of course, includes hot and cold running water and a proper flushing loo – this is the ultimate in luxury glamping, after all. A few steps lead up to the open plan living-room with its vaulted ceiling, delightful dining-area and fully-fitted kitchen – it’s a spacious and social space, with everything you could need to cook up a feast, perhaps with the local catch of the day fresh from the coast. Of an evening, you can snuggle up in front of the cosy wood-burner with a good book or movie – and a glass of your favourite tipple or two – bliss! French doors lead out to the huge private decked area overlooking the meadow below, complete with your very own bubbling hot tub – the perfect place for taking in the tranquility of the Cornish countryside by day or gazing at the twinkling stars by night. The lovely meadow itself is great for your four-legged friend to let off steam in and there is even a spot for you to have a scrummy barbecue on the fire-pit provided.

Although you may feel as if you never wish to leave, if you can bear to tear yourselves away, the thriving fishing port of Porthleven is only a five minute drive and is fast becoming a go-to destination, with its pretty harbour and numerous good restaurants (including Rick Stein’s). Praa Sands is slightly further along the coast (just a 15 minute drive) with a mile of golden sand, great surfing and a laid-back beach bar where you can watch the surfers as the sun goes down. The Lizard peninsula and all it has to offer is easily accessible from here too. What more could you want? Barney’s Cabin truly will not disappoint.
